Google has started rolling out a long list of functional updates for its supported Pixel devices via the March 2025 Pixel Drop.
“Our first Pixel Drop of the year is here, bringing more helpful features and updates to your devices,” Google’s Aisha Sharif writes. “These features start rolling out today and will continue over the next few weeks.”

The March 2025 Pixel Drop includes:
Gemini Live improvements. Gemini Live is getting updated with Gemini 2.0 Flash, so it supports over 45 languages and can understand and engage in multilingual conversations. Gemini Live multimodal capabilities were originally available only on the Pixel 9 series, but now they’re rolling out on Pixel 6 and newer and Pixel Fold. (And as noted earlier, Gemini Live video and screen sharing is coming soon.)
Pixel Screenshots improvements. Pixel Screenshots has a new suggestions feature that automatically suggests screenshots to add to your collection. It also works with your Work profile now, too.
Pixel Studio improvements. Pixel Studio can finally create images of people like a normal generative AI app.
Regional improvements. Pixel Screenshots, Pixel Studio, Pixel AI weather reports, and Pollen tracker in the Weather app are coming to Germany and Japan. And AI-powered Recorder app summaries are coming to Japan.
Scam Detector in Google Messages. Perhaps the best reason to use a Pixel over an iPhone, Scam Detector uses the on-device Gemini Nano model to protect users from fraud phone calls. With this update, Scam Detection is now available in Google Messages, too. “It uses on-device AI to flag conversational text patterns commonly associated with scams, so it can identify messages that seem harmless, but turn dangerous over time,” Google explains. “You’ll receive a real-time warning so you can easily block and report the conversation.”
Find My Device improvements. Find My Device can now be used to share your personal location with others in real-time. Your contacts can share their locations with you as well.
Connected cameras. Pixel users can now use a connected camera like a GoPro or even another Pixel phone to stream to social media platforms from different angles. Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, and YouTube are supported.
Recorder app improvements. When you upgrade to a new phone, you can now bring your Recorder-based recordings from Pixel phones or Watch along with you.
Voice Toolbar in Gboard. Google’s virtual keyboard now offers voice-to-type capabilities via a new Voice Toolbar that doesn’t require the full keyboard to be open.
Personalized Pixel modes. Pixel modes–Do Not Disturb, Bedtime, Driving, and Relax, plus whatever custom modes you make–can now be fully customized and more easily activated.
Satellite SOS in more places. Satellite SOS is coming to Alaska and Hawaii in the U.S., and to Europe and Canada too.
Wireless carrier improvements. Pixel users on T-Mobile and Verizon can now text message others and connect with emergency services via satellite when there’s no other connectivity.
Pixel Watch improvements. Thanks to recent FDA clearance, Pixel Watch 3 will soon support loss of pulse detection in the U.S. Pixel Watch 3 is also getting on-device menstrual tracking. All Pixel Watch models now track your steps with greater precision and accuracy. Auto-bedtime detection expands past Pixel Watch 3 to Pixel Watch 2. And new audio controls for Fast forward, Rewind, Playback speed, and Playback queue are available now on Pixel Watch 3.
Pixel Fold improvements. The OG Pixel Fold can now use the Dual Screen Preview feature that debuted on Pixel 9 Pro Fold. And that new Fold now offers Add Me with Dual Screen Preview so you can be included in group photos.
