Microsoft has just released a Mac app for its Copilot AI assistant, which now comes preinstalled on Windows 11 and Windows 10 PCs. The Copilot app for Mac is available to download from the Mac App Store, but it requires an Apple Silicon chip. It’s also only available in the US and the UK as of this writing.
Just like Copilot on the web and Windows PCs, the new Mac app lets users ask questions using natural language, try the now-unlimited Think Deeper feature, and talk to the assistant using Copilot Voice. However, uploading files isn’t supported on Mac yet.

If Copilot on Windows is a web-based app, this new Copilot Mac app also seems to use a web view for the main screen. The app’s left sidebar and settings menu look native, however. Mac users can summon Copilot using the default Option + space keyboard shortcut, and the AI assistant can also be accessed from the macOS Menu Bar.
This Copilot Mac app comes months after OpenAI first released a desktop ChatGPT app on macOS. While this official ChatGPT app isn’t available on the Mac App Store, Mac users can also download the official Perplexity app from Apple’s digital storefront.
