Dynabook–formerly named Toshiba–built the Portégé Z40L-N around the Intel Core Ultra Series 2 V-series “Lunar Lake” processor, but the big news for this release is that the laptop meets MIL-STD-810H standards, ensuring resilience against drops, shocks, and extreme conditions, despite weighing just 2.2 pounds. It features a 14-inch Full HD+ (1920 x 1200) display with optional touch, 16 or 32 GB of LPDDR5 RAM, up to 2 TB of PCIe NVMe SSD storage, Wi-Fi 7, and Dolby Atmos sound.
Connectivity looks solid, with a Thunderbolt 4/USB-C port, a full-sized HDMI video-out port, a full-sized USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port, a combo microphone/headphone jack, and a microSD card reader on the left, and a Thunderbolt 4/USB-C port, a full-sized Ethernet jack, and a full-sized USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port with always-on capabilities on the right, along with a Kensington lock slot.
The 65-watt battery is user-serviceable, and Dynabook says the Portégé Z40L-N will deliver all-day battery life, as with other Copilot+ PCs. It’s a Secured-core PC with Peek Alert, Presence Detection, Lock on Leave, and other modern security features too.
