Apple said late Friday that it would roll out new AI-based Apple Intelligence features across its platforms in April as part of iOS 18.4, iPadOS 18.4, and macOS Sequoia 15.4. Those releases will also add support for new languages.
“Apple Intelligence, the personal intelligence system that delivers helpful and relevant intelligence, will soon be available in more languages, including French, German, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese (simplified) — as well as localized English for Singapore and India,” an Apple “quick read” notes. “These new languages will be accessible in nearly all regions around the world with the release of iOS 18.4, iPadOS 18.4, and macOS Sequoia 15.4 in April, and developers can start to test these releases today.”

Apple also confirmed that iOS 18.4 will bring Apple Intelligence to users in the EU for the first time. And that Apple Intelligence is coming to another of its platforms, Vision Pro. And it implicitly confirmed rumors that the full set of previously promised AI-based Siri features were taking longer to create than it expected. “Apple Intelligence will continue to expand with new features in the coming months, including more capabilities for Siri,” the “quick read” concludes. In other words, post-iOS 18.4.
The first iOS 18.4/iPadOS 18.4 developer beta includes a few new features, most notably Priority Notifications, which displays notifications “that may be important in a separate section on the Lock Screen.” It uses “on-device processing to analyze the content of notifications for importance while protecting your privacy,” and it has to be enabled first. (You can do so in Settings > Notifications > Prioritize Notifications.) Aside from that, there is also a new Sketch style to the Image Playgrounds app and you can now configure default Translation and Navigation apps, though the latter is only available in the EU.
Those using the iPadOS 18.4 and macOS Sequoia 15.4 developer beta will also get an updated version of the Apple Mail app similar to the one that launched on iPhone with iOS 18.3. This version of Mail adds a refined UI and a new mail categories feature.
There are also new developer betas for tvOS 18.4, visionOS 2.4, watchOS 11.4, and HomePod Software Version 18.4.
Public beta versions of these releases are expected before the end of February. You can sign-up for the public betas on the Apple website.
